Personal Information
We use your information only to find suitable project opportunities for you. However, some clients will offer bylines on their websites. In this case, we’ll use the byline you provided in your profile. We'll inform you about this when we add you to that client's team — or rarely, you'll find a relevant indication in the project guidelines from such clients.
In other words, if you wish to remain anonymous — and decline to provide a byline with your legal name and headshot on the client’s website — we’ll respect your privacy and not send you projects from these clients. However, this may limit the number of projects available for you to claim.
Compose.ly has no objections to the use of pseudonyms or pen names, but we require disclosure of their use to our team when you apply to join our community. We won’t disclose the legal names to any clients or anyone else without the writer’s express permission.
Industries of Specialization
You’re allowed to choose one primary industry and three secondary industries.
If your niche isn’t listed in our database, please complete this Google form so we can verify the niche for you.
Bandwidth and Claim Limit
Update your bandwidth regularly
Please update your weekly bandwidth as and when required in your profile to keep us updated on your capacity — it'll help us forecast the volume of words that we can provide for current and potential clients. To update your bandwidth, please go to My Account > PERSONAL DATA
Inform us if you are taking a break
You don’t need to change your bandwidth if you’re going on vacation — or just taking a break — for less than two weeks. For a more extended period of absence, please update it and/or let us know via the Composely Bot. However, we may suspend your account if you haven’t claimed projects according to the indicated bandwidth for an extended period.
Be mindful of your claim limit
As a core writer, you'll have a claim limit of 10,000 words at a time. That is, you'll be able to claim new projects as long as you have less than 10,000 words in the drafting state. However, we may reduce your claim limit if you consistently deliver content late, request revisions, or submit poor work.
Changing Your Account Credentials
Name and email address
If you want to change the name or email attached to your profile, please raise a ticket using the Compose.ly Bot and let us know why you need to make that change.
Password
If you want to change your password or if you forget your password, go to our writer login page and click on the link “I forgot my password.” Provide your email address, and you’ll receive an email with a link to reset the password.
Project notifications
To change your project notifications settings, go to Dashboard > My Account > PERSONAL DATA > How often would you like to be notified of new projects available to you? You'll be able to choose to either receive notifications every time a new project is available or get daily round-ups.
Account Suspension or Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time and are likely to do so in the case of:
- Plagiarism
- Inactivity
- Inconsistent performance
- Late projects
- Disrespectful interactions with community members
- Any other infraction, as determined by our in-house team
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team through Compose.ly Bot, and we’ll provide further information on your account.
Leaving Compose.ly
It’s always sad to see a community member go. If you decide to terminate your collaboration with us, please let us know through Compose.ly Bot.
We’ll gather a few details and then suspend your account.
Nonetheless, if at some point you decide to come back, please feel free to reach out to our recruitment team at hr@compose.ly.
